For its ninth stop, "KAWS:HOLIDAY" floated through the sky again, taking off and soaring through the skies of Melbourne, Australia! COMPANION CAN’T WAIT TO TRAVEL!
KAWS:HOLIDAY MELBOURNE SOARS THE SKIES OF MELBOURNE
Melbourne is one of the few major cities that allow for the opportunity of hot-air balloon flights. This was the 2nd stop for KAWS’s balloon after touching down in the hot-air balloon capital of the United Kingdom - Bristol. The sculptural COMPANION hot-air balloon is also one of the world’s largest at 42 meters tall.
Melbourne is known for its mix of Victorian architecture and modern buildings. After the sculpture caught the breeze in the city, COMPANION got an enchanting new perspective on Melbourne by soaring over the Yarra River, the National Gallery of Victoria and Albert Park Lake as early morning light bathed the skyline in a rosy glow. This balloon experience showed a fine blend of the old and modern sides of the city, set against a vividly blue sky, looking like a surreal moving castle floating between the skyscrapers and buildings.
Unlike the previous flight in Bristol which was arranged in a rural location, the urban environment of Melbourne created a challenge for the pilot, having to ensure the balloon flew stably above the city against changing wind patterns.
"KAWS:HOLIDAY" HOT-AIR BALLOON WORLD TOUR SURPRISE WAS SPOTTED
FIRST LOOK AT THE SPECIALLY MANUFACTURED JUMPSUIT BY HUMAN MADE
AllRightsReserved arranged a "Big Surprise" for the second hot-air balloon journey of “KAWS:HOLIDAY”, and invited the long-time friend of KAWS, and NIGO, the Japanese cultural pioneer to specially manufacture a “KAWS:HOLIDAY” jumpsuit. The jumpsuit is constructed in navy fabric with long sleeves and features special branding elements throughout. HUMAN MADE has incorporated "KAWS:HOLIDAY" in its signature font style that makes a bold statement on the back. The garment also includes KAWS' iconic "XX" motif and HUMAN MADE's logo, featuring "AUSTRALIA" badges on the sleeves, rounding it all out with functional details.
